VICTORIAN BIG BATTERY

The Victorian Big Battery is a 300 MW grid-scale battery storage project in Geelong, Australia which stores enough energy in reserve to power over one million Victorian homes for 1/2 an hour.

BULGANA GREEN POWER HUB

The Bulgana Green Power Hub is a combined 204MW wind farm and 20 MW battery storage facility. It supplies around 750,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of clean renewable electricity into the national electricity system each year.

Near-Term BESS Development Projects

Bawurra

The Bawurra Battery is proposed 7 km to the west of Columboola, along Warrego Hwy, Western Downs. The proposed project is located amongst the gas wells of Surat Gas Project and across the road from Condamine Power Station.

The proposed battery would have two parts, Bawurra West with capacity of 400 MW and Bawurra East with capacity of 150 MW. The storage capacity could be equivalent of the daily energy usage of up to 200,000 Queensland homes.

Molong

The Molong Battery is proposed to be located at 1 Deight Street, Molong, New South Wales, south of Transgrid s existing Molong substation. The access would be via Back Salesyard Rd.

The facility is designed to have a power output of up to 150 MW and will be able to maintain this output for at least 4 hours before recharging. The Molong Battery could store the equivalent of the daily energy usage of around 40,000 Australian homes

Moorabool

The Moorabool Battery is a 300MW/1200MWh grid-scale battery storage project in Geelong, Australia which will store enough energy in reserve to power over one million Victorian homes for up to 2 hours.

This substantial storage capacity enables the battery to offer essential services such as frequency control and load shifting. These services are critical in supporting the expansion of renewable energy sources, by ensuring a stable and reliable energy supply.
